You know, Max might have been resistant to Maria trying to cheer him up. How would she convince him that it was in his best interest to talk and to not stay alone ?

I don't see how Maria could get Max into a Hawaiian shirt guys. Unless there was some serious blackmail involved.

I think she'd just be there, it wouldn't be much about convincing him with words but more about being at his house and watching TV with him. Or dragging him out to see a movie. Or even taking her break time to sit with him at the CrashDown.

Knowing he was as lonely as she was would mean to Maria that he was going through exactly what she was going through. And she wouldn't want to be alone so she'd want the same for Max. I think eventually he'd start to open up and talk to her but it would take time.

Girls, who are friends, talk over ice creams. Maybe she tried that with Max ? Getting him to eat ice cream while watching movies and getting him to talk ?

Since them becoming friends definitely involved ice cream, and that Max ate that ice cream with Tabasco, I can see Maria tasting it. Then saying that it's disgusting. Leading to Max asking Maria if Liz said anything about his tabasco addiction.

Not if they wanted to stay alive ! But I bet that Liz made some biscuits with Tabasco in it and that Max loved that. Somehow, I don't see Maria making them.
