I think the show would totally be different. We see that with the reboot. I am glad Roswell aired in the time it did. I think the show would have lost its innocence (you know what I mean 90's nostalgia and all) and the characters wouldn't be the same. We were lucky that we got a beautiful love story with amazing characters despite the crazy storylines we were so lucky.

As you can see with the reboot something is missing. The magic is not there. Then again our cast was perfect. (Not knocking the new cast we have some great talent on the show just the story over all I don't feel it like I did with the original cast)

Shiri and Jason were perfect! Pure magic!

Yeah. It would have been completely different. And I am not even sure Max and Liz would be endgame. They would have thrown Liz and Michael together. The bad boy of the group. And maybe mixed Maria in with Max. Mixed things up. One of the unique things was there was potential there for the original series to go there.

Max and Maria bonded after Destiny. With Liz gone to Florida, and Michael was dealing with baggage of killing Pierce. And then the gotcha at New Year's Eve. Yet, there was no genuine effort to change things up. Try those pairings. They kept to two couples.

Added Tess to Max and Liz.

But you never really doubted that they wanted Max and Liz in the end. They might have done things wrong, and things got confused, and soaped it up.

Now, is a very different age. I think if CW had existed. It might have lasted more than 3 seasons.

So, it was before its time. But it definitely was a more innocent time. And we got lucky, and it would have to be a different show if it came later...

As much as the show should have been more popular. We were lucky that they kept to Max and Liz and Michael and Maria. And did not try to mess things up. Because they could have. Still, given it was only three years. They did a little too much in such a short time.

They messed up with Max and Liz and they did not dare to do the same thing with Michael and MarΓa.

I don't know about that... Maria had her issues in Season 3. Which I described a teenage mid life crisis, and she was giving Michael a lot of mixed signals about what she wanted. She was irratic. It led her to New York, and then back again. She was directionless after New York.

I understand that it was a lot for her. Unlike Liz. She was not in this because she got saved. She loved Michael. She did not have abilities. So, she and Michael had some other challenges. But they had it easier in Season 2 in a lot of ways that Max and Liz did not. Although they had their angst. But it was very different.

I can certainly see why the candies hate S3 but they didn't come close to suffering from what we did.

I think they subscribed the theory that Max and Liz were the lead duo. So, they got the lion share of angst. Because Max was "King". It was easily to throw everything at them, and Michael and Isabel got a lesser share of the drama. Although Season 3 definitely was not as kind to Michael and Maria.

Season 2 actually had a good time there for them, despite not really being together. Only when Alex died, in her grief Maria pushed him away. And Michael stood still and was the model boyfriend while Max had the soul reversal, and changed into a different character LOL.

It was probably natural Season 3 would test things for Maria as she was facing graduation. At the same time, it allowed for Liz to look at things too. Leading up to the "Changes" arc that would really test Max and Liz.

And change them for good.

I've said it again, and I say it again. I really need a rewatch. I barely remember these plot points

I enjoy it. I think of it all in different ways now. But to see them so young, and to see the love between Max and Liz. I try to do it at least once a year at least. Although I tend to watch the New Year's Eve episode on NYEve.
