This is only very tangentially related to Game of Thrones, but I wanted to talk about it.
I'm rewatching Westworld right now, and it occurred to me that Jonah Nolan and Lisa Joy actually successfully wrote Dolores as 'black hat Daenerys' and didn't have to lie to their audience in order to do so or completely trash the character and throw away any of her already-established characterization. Dolores in Westworld Seasons 2 and 3 is doing very questionable/outright terrible things, but at no point do those things make the audience turn against either her or the show itself, which is both a testament to the tightness of the show's writing and a damning indictment of how bad and incompetent GoT's 'Voldemort' showrunners actually were. __________________
