I can say that I've never watched a show that was promoted so much! Most of the time I'm lucky if my shows get a weekly promo on a different night.

I'm very impressed by HBO's dedication to promoting Game of Thrones, it looks like they've left very few stones unturned in advertising the show. I don't know how much they've spent on advertising it, but sometimes it feels like they've spent even more on promotions than in making the show!

That's a very HBO thing to do, though. I remember back when the first season of True Blood was promoted, they did go above and beyond with the advertising as well

I have! I absolutely loved it, but as a fan of the books, I'm kind of biased. I'd love to hear from someone who hasn't read the books.

I watched the first episode this afternoon. I've read the books, so I'm a built in fan, and as I expected, I enjoyed it. There were lots of characters and exposition about the world to introduce, and I'm looking forward to getting deeper into the characters as the show goes on, but I thought it did a really good job of introducing everything. I can tell that I'm going to enjoy Tyrion just as much on the show as I do in the books. And the final scene (won't go into specifics for those who haven't seen the episode yet) was just as shocking on screen as it was in my head when I read the book.

So, I'm definitely in for this series and I'm hoping it does well in the ratings.

i watched the first eppy and i am still in the interested stage. i will have to watch a bit more to decide if I want to keep with it... lol!

Watched the episode this afternoon, and loved it just as much as I thought I would! Definitely lived up to expectations in my mind. The only disappointment, and it was small, was with the drogo/dany scene at the end...it was a very different tone than in the book. Not a big deal but they are one of my favorite parts of the books so I have high hopes for them in the show. Hoepfully they'll explore them more in coming eps.

But everything else, perfect! The cinematography was just beautiful. I couldn't be happier with the casting, as well! I'm so so excited for next sunday!
