Chris and Shay-La, I added you guys.

Shay-La: Yes, you need to buy Firefly! I've heard several people that only watched Serenity without watching Firefly - don't you lose a lot of the back-story then?

Thanks for adding me Dan.

I think Serenity was made so it could stand on it's own. As you say, it's a lot more interesting having watched Firefly first to know all the back story. I'd hope that anybody introduced to the franchise through the movie would have enough interest to go back and watch the tv series.

I think Serenity is a good way to introduce people to it, watcing a tv show might be a little too much at first. Watch the movie and if you like it then watch the show too. I think most people will do that, the movie is addictive.

I rewatched Serenity today, I feel like I need to watch it every few months or I'll die or something. I also discovered that I've watched my dvd so many times that I need a new one, because it gets stuck too much now. But now I have a good reason to get the special edition dvd.

You need a reason to get the special edition DVD?

I do, because why I don't need two copies of the same movie.

But one's the special edition and one's the regular, so it wouldn't be the same movie.

I'm the same way. I'm cheap.

I'm cheap and practical, it's even worse. But then it is Serenity, if there's any movie I could own two copies of it's that one.

Ron_Cullen --- I try to convert them. Mixed results.

Avatar --- Thanks for the add! And I've seen it! I've watched it multiple times, just through Hulu and such. I feel in order to properly support Joss in all things he does I need to go out and actually buy it. I would make my Firefly marathons a lot easier too..... Also, I was introduced through the movie and I don't think it was particularly confusing. I remember not getting why Book was so important and I thought Jayne and Zoe were married. (In the first-ish scene Zoe says "sweetie" or sommin so I thought it was to Jayne, I figured it out.)

If you start with the movie someone like Book will definitely be a mystery to you. He was a bigger part of the show, but in the movie he was only there for a minute and then gone.

Yeah, didn't like that about the movie - that they just had Book there for a minute or two. And Jayne and Zoe would have been an... interesting couple.

Jayne and Zoe

I agree, I really wish that Book had been a bigger part of the movie. It's frustrating to me that we still don't know what he did before he was a shepard

Very true - one of the big unresolved plot-points that. Oh, for a Season 2...
