Anyone else find it strange that Earth was the only spacefaring planet in Babylon 5 that had to use centrifuges and rotating spacecraft to generate artificial gravity? You'd think that during the war with Minbar, when Earth was buying weapons and technology from the Narn, they'd have also bought artificial gravity field technology as well. During the cold war, stealth technology, computer technology, and every other type of technology was in high demand. You couldn't have one nation develop something without another trying to steal it, because if you fell behind technologically, you lost. I don't think Earth would've stuck with rotating spacecraft section while every other race had gravity fields on their ships. I know they were trying to go for realism, a la 2001: A Space Odyssey, but when you have all these other alien races who don't need that old tech, it just doesn't make sense.

I do not recall seeing narn ships that had artificial gravity - they always seemed to be strapped in. Assuming the narn did have it, it was likely that the narn would not want to sell earth such advanced technology but only less advanced weaponry. Remember that g'kar who oversaw the weapons sale said the weaponry came from the centauri so the minbari would think that earth bought it from the centauri. In addition, by the time the sale took place, the war was already far along, and earth was getting their butts kicked and were desperate for weapons they could use immediately or quickly install in their ships. Finally, it would have taken years to build ships that incorporated artificial gravity, and earth wouldn't have had time.

Enjoy! One of the best things about Babylon 5 is that the creator had a plan so you won't experience to much aimless storytelling, IMO.

I just started re-watching the show on DVD last month. Haven't seen it since the Sci Fi Channel was doing weekday reruns back in the early 2000s. I was still in Elementary school back then! Currently half way through Season 3!
