Canadian Politics / PM 2004.. Discussion Thread
Our beloved PM Mr. Cretchie is retiring next year and now we need to decide who will take his place.
Me? I'm not sure. I'm still listening to all parties talking about their plans and what not, but I am thinking that I'd like to see Joe Clark run. [ 02-16-2003: Message edited Mrs. George Eads ] __________________

I'm not sure who I would like to see as the new PM.

Not Martin. Not Martin. Not Martin. Not Martin. Not Martin.
And not the Alliance. Yuck. Clark, I think, is on his way to retirement right now. Poor guy. He seems like a nice man, but his career hasn't exactly been illustrious. |

Eh, we don't usually elect entertainers to office up here.

We don't really know enough about each of the candidates and their stances to actually know. Though Martin looks kinda iffy due to his whole luke-warm reaction to homosexual rights and stuff (oooh, I can vote next year! YAY!)

Joe Clark.
It's sad, I find myself voting the way my parents do. Eeek. PS: at the Mike Myers comment. Sorry, but whatevah. Canada isn't so backward that we let entertainers run our country. Just idiots like Jean Chretien. __________________

Maybe some third or fourth string Party?
The Liberals, NDP, Alliance,Conservatives all have no one appealling for me. I voted the Marijuana party the last time as it seems the same old dinosaurs are always running and always in office. As a westerner maybe Ralph Klein would be okay. But the way politics are in Canada now I really am not interested like I used to be. I really don't care anymore they all talk the talk but they are all the same once they get in reguardless of party affiliation. |

I vote NDP. Although that may be a throwaway vote. (I wish we had something a little closer to proportional representation out here.)

Out of principle I don't vote for the Tories or the repulsive Alliance. That leaves me with the Liberals and NDP. Considering where I live, the Liberal candidate will surely win, no matter whom I vote for.
And Paul Martin will be our next Prime Minister. __________________

I can't believe I finally get to vote. I feel like I've been waiting my whole life to vote ... and now that I think about it, I have.
I'm in the minority here, but I never minded Jean Chretien. He's not a brilliant, charismatic PM like Trudeau or anything, and he hasn't done as much as he says he has, but he hasn't pissed me off just yet, and I've always been more in favour of the Liberals than any other party. On the other hand, while I'm an unofficial Liberal, I can't stand Paul Martin and really don't want him to head up the federal Liberals for the next election. It doesn't look like we have much choice though. But then again, I really just don't want to see the Alliance in office ... so anyone else will be just fine.
