OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS Tuesday at 8pm on ABC What would you do if there was a knock at your door and you opened it to find an entire game show in front of you, along with an audience made up of your neighbors and friends? And what if you were given the opportunity to have a family game night where you could win hundreds of thousands of dollars and amazing prizes that could change your life? In the new one-hour show, Opportunity Knocks, that chance is realized when one lucky family is brought together each week to play the game of a lifetime. The instant that host JD Roth knocks on a family's front door in Anywhere, America, the mobile Opportunity Knocks team will be there in a semi-truck filled with prizes. They will literally set up shop on a family's front lawn. It's there that an audience made up of neighbors and friends will be cheering them on. Roth will ask the family trivia questions based directly on their lives, each other and articles found in and around their home. In order to win the prizes of their dreams, they will have to prove they know each other inside and out. Additionally, there will be interactive challenges for the family members, where the TV camera will be taken directly into the contestants' home. When the families in Opportunity Knocks come together for their weekly game night, anything can happen as they move toward their prize-winning goal. Whatever the outcome, the biggest reward will be the experience they share as a family, the opportunity to bring a neighborhood together and the bonds that will be strengthened. I saw the first episode, it's a fun show. Because I was switching channels I didn't see everything but what I did see I thought it was good.

I went to a live taping of this show. They built the set on my friends front lawn. The whole set up is very impressive.
The taping was exhaustive, it took 4 hours to do the show. It will be interesting to see how they edit the show. A lot of scenes were re-shot. It was a fun experience, they throw a big block party on the day of taping. All the people that live on the block get paid for inconvenience and use of their property. Look for the episode with the Haag family from New Jersey. Thats the one I went to. |
