Yeah I think Dawn should have died instead of Buffy. In a way that would have been more daring and interesting than having Buffy sacrifice herself and then be brought back from the dead. Plus, no Dawn.

She never meant to cause Buffy pain by bringing her back. she thought she was in Hell! And was SO sorry for what she had done, when she found out. even thought a lot of her reason was just missing Buffy too, I cant really blame her for that either. its very natural, when your best friend is dead.

I love her loosing control of magic too. mostly from a mythological perspective - magic must have big bad consequences for me to like it included in a fantasy-universe. otherways it would have made things far too easy.

but I also think it is a nice comment on drug abuse in general. I particularly loved wrecked in that way, like when dawn is beeing chased by the monster of addiction - showing what it does to an addicts next of kin.

and as to the "trying to end the world" thing, she did it because she couldnt stand living any more, overpowered by both her grief and addiction. I think not punishing her for that was a very right thing to do. Taking her away and teaching her how to cope with both these themes was a far better way of handling it. She was already so scared and ashamed and sorry about what she had done that it made her cast a spell to make her invisible to her friends! coming down on her in that condition would not have done any good

Oh she fanwanks too. But for some reason in her screwed up logic Connor being Buffy's child and Spike having recurring dreams about Buffy prior to OOMM despite how shocked he looked is somehow less of a stretch than Buffy being attracted to Spike before S6. Haha. There's not much I see eye to eye with her.
