I don't follow the comics, so I didn't know she was back, is she like Angel's second hand man now?

This season she appears to be. But Angel has a number of people around him in Magic Town, but she's the only one left from Angel's original crew in Los Angeles. Wesley, Cordelia, and, I think, Gunn are all dead. Only Fred/Illyria are alive.

I'm not a big follower of the Angel comics, I'm actually more invested in the Buffy comic series. But, it's lovely to see Fred being her sweet self around Angel. I always thought they had such a great friendship.

I'm kinda happy about that, but it sucks about the rest of the crew....I don't really count the comics as canon personally

I don't as well.

Even though I loved reading the Angel/Faith ones, I don't see them as the real deal. lol

Same, I love them & they feel in character so I like to imagine something like that happened at some point after the series ended (because in my mind the Angel crew all survived the battle & I'm gonna stick by that), so it's kind of like visual aids for a head canon

No, I do take some elements from the comics, like how she can still be alive buried deep in Illyria & can resurface

Same with how they made the Buffy in TGIQ a decoy, because I don't really like the idea of her being with the immortal....
