Oz vs. Tara

Willow and Oz or Willow and Tara... Who was your favorite?

I loved Tara because she left to have Willow better herself... and Tara was just a sweetheart... and we heard her sing. :)

Callace 01-29-2008 08:06 AM

I was fine with both of them. But my favorite spouse for Willow was Kennedy:D

Crystal Clear 01-29-2008 08:13 AM

Willow and Oz! Willow and Oz! Willow and Oz! :D

I liked Oz. I liked Willow and Oz as a couple and each of them as individuals during that time until Veruka the she WW was introduced into the story.

When Seth Green told them he was leaving the show the writers came up with Veruka as the catalyst for him to leave and find a way to control his WW self. Supposedly they had a whole story arch planned where the Oz character is developed more to show his struggle with superpower to be the male equivalent to the struggle Buffy was having. I think that would have been interesting. (Although if Oz had stayed we may never had gotten Spike's story, so I guess I'm glad he left.)

I didn't like Tara at the very first because of how she stammered and was so shy. I thought that was a little over the top. I liked her better after she left Willow. She seemed to develop more self confidence but still be shy and sweet. As a couple they were OK. I liked Willow - Kennedy better.

I fell in love with Oz when Willow did. I fell in, maybe not love but definitely, like with Kennedy when Willow did.

I think Tara was Willow's Riley.

I agree with that, to a certain point. but willow was warmer and sweeter than Buffy. she didnt shut down that much.

I would have liked to see Oz' larger arc. but since everything in my opinion gets better with Spike, Im glad he got to be the male counterpart to buffy in struggling with his power. (Although i think they could have made more out of that theme with him) I wonder how Spikes story would have been if oz stayed. it would have been nice to see them get to know each others...

Willow and Oz.

ckbestfriends 01-29-2008 08:51 AM

I liked Oz when he was with Willow, but I liked how tender Tara and Willow were together. I hate Kennedy. She is an annoying character that, in my opinion, didn't accept Willow for who she was.
Tara was in no way a Riley. Riley was a boring and unchanging voice character.
I liked how the Buffy team brought in a lesbian relationship, which pushed some people's buttons.

Tara and Oz were great but Willow was a nasty weak little creep.

ckbestfriends 01-29-2008 10:08 AM

Willow was weak. I liked the way she talked though, it was entertaining

I thought Willow was more herself with Kennedy than with Tara.

I meant both Riley and Tara were the "rebound guy". Both were the opposite of the "first love guy". Then both Willow and Buffy became brave enough to form another relationship with their more natural partner even though they had been burned once.

Still neither Tara or Kennedy could match Oz's quite confidence. Tara was too shy and lacking in confidence while Kennedy was too aggressive.

Joss was undecided whether to make Willow gay or Xander. Making Xander gay might have pushed a lot more buttons. As far as pushing buttons I thought Kennedy with a tongue stud pushed some buttons.;)

Kennedy didn't understand Willow and her magic. She was pushy and annoying in general. I did like that she had a tongue ring :)

I liked that Willow had someone to do magic with, Tara. Although, I think I like Willow and Tara so much because Tara died when they were just getting back together.

Callace 01-29-2008 10:41 AM

Kennedy didnt understand the magic at first, but then she slowly started to get used to, and get it. I liked that character-progression in her, how she was willing to change for W

ckbestfriends 01-29-2008 10:53 AM

I don't think Kennedy ever really accepted magic, she just got involved in her slayerness.
I also could not stand her bangs... shallow I know

Callace 01-29-2008 11:19 AM

In Chosen, when she looked at Willow, and said "You are a goddes" I feel she certainly had accepted it. and in TKIM she says that she is starting to figure this whole magic-thing out

ckbestfriends 01-29-2008 11:25 AM

yes, but I think that Kennedy believed magic was just a simple fix... that magic didn't really have consequences because everything could be fixed.

I agree that Kennedy was genuine when she said Willow was a goddess and perhaps accepted and understood the magic

I dont know. It seems a lot of fans would very much like Xander to be gay. ( I think I have seen more fanfic with gay Xander than straigth:lol:)

I thought Kennedy was annoying and pushy and the way that she talked bothered me....

OZ ¡¡¡¡¡

Crystal Clear 02-01-2008 05:30 AM

I never usually like using the term 'soulmates' for a couple, it's too idealistic for my taste, but I honestly think Oz is Willow's soulmate. I loved the whole speech they had in the car about how if she turned the corner in Istanbul and there he was, she wouldn't be surprised, because "you're with me, you know?"

I really truly believe Willow and Oz will end up together.

Callace 02-01-2008 12:19 PM

That might be a little hard, since Willow is gay now... but who knows?:) that scene was really sweet. I also liked them comforting each other before the apocalypse in Graduation Day:sigh:

Crystal Clear 02-01-2008 12:53 PM

OK this question is gonna raise some eyebrows now, but, is she gay?

Or was it just about Tara and the connection they had?

Callace 02-01-2008 01:59 PM

her connection with Kennedy shows clearly that it is more than one woman she loved. she tried to convince herself that Tara was the only girl for her, but she couldnt stick with that:love:

Crystal Clear 02-01-2008 02:05 PM

See, I never got into her romance with Kennedy. It felt very rushed and contrived. It was kind of sweet, but, well, I didn't like Kennedy anyway, and it just felt like they were forcing themselves to put Willow with somebody, somebody that wouldn't be so dramatic in a relationship with her, like Oz or Tara were.

I still always felt Oz was her true love. Tara came close, but I think the whole tragedy of her death facilitates that, because it was just after their reunion. Oz is the only person I could envision her going back to now.

Callace 02-01-2008 02:15 PM

I think all three of them were true love for her. Willow seems to me like the scoobie who more than anyone got the best out of her relationships
