I think so too. I've always thought it will be a car wreck. It's going to be something organic and real, not tied to the mystery.

Archie mentioned that Fred was out of town. It would be easy to write a car wreck story to coincide with that. Maybe that he was in a hospital for days and couldn't call anyone and he died? So many possibilities.

Definitely. It’s also too convenient that Mary said she was going to stay until Fred returned home for it not to mean something. The writing wants Mary there when Archie finds out.
