The stupid WB couldn’t even grasp what it had with Everwood. The CW wanted lower quality and a young teen audience. Those moronic networks were ridiculous. The irony is the CW finally appreciates Greg Berlanti and some of his high quality shows like The Flash and Supergirl. But they massively screwed up with Everwood and it will always be their loss.

We were blessed with four years of greatness. We will never forget the experience. The very fact that this board continues on demonstrates the loyalty and connection so many still have to Everwood. We will never let go.
All that is so true.

What I feel made Everwood unique was its ability to combine touching and engaging drama with comical moments. An example of this would be when Harold started a bagel shop when his practice lost their insurance due to Linda having HIV, or when Amy obsessed about Ephram and Stephanie at Delia’s Bat Mitzvah. The actors on the show could handle the drama and the humorous moments in equal measure, all due to the superior writing and their superior acting.

100%. This cast was flawless while combing comedic and dramatic moments. I notice this is a formula Berlanti likes to use. You see it on The Flash and Supergirl. Everwood started this unique formula and did it best.

Even just the thick drama... Amy’s situational depression... Emily shined. If any other actress plays the character of Amy it would have come across as irritating while even disliking Amy. Emily took a serious storyline and displayed it in a way where you felt every emotion Amy felt while pulling for her every step of the way.

Like you said, neither The WB Network and especially The CW (Completely Worthless, Trademark you ) Network couldn't grasp what they had with Everwood.

They could not. But I believe it was a blessing in disguise. I know Berlanti said to trust him, but those new storylines for a potential season 5 were concerning. Hannah and Ephram? Jake/Nina/Andy triangle with baby (even though we just dealt with a pregnancy storyline)? Madison returning to cause more chaos? No thank you. Everwood only should’ve made the transition to The CW if the true Everwood was able to be displayed.

I completely agree with this. I would have hated to see any of these storylines play out, so like you said, it was a blessing in disguise that the show was cancelled and that we got the most wonderful ending in the history of television.

It’s really difficult to complain when we’re talking best ending in history of television.

I know a lot of people wanted to see more... Ephram/Amy after final romantic reunion day-to-day, engagement, marriage. Andy/Nina getting married, Delia in her high school years. Of course it would’ve been nice. That said, the writing of Everwood is so strong, we can fill in the blanks.

And a lot of us have filled in those blanks and we still do.

Exactly.

I’d rather fill in the blanks with the strong story and satisfying ending over receiving a season five and having it turn into a soap opera disaster, with triangles and pregnancies.

I just logged back into Amazon Prime for the first time in two months and found out that Everwood is now free to stream but with ads. I'll take it. Hopefully if they get the views Amazon will get rid of the ads.

Wow, thank you for letting us know!

I have Prime as well. Jerry and I were just discussing Everwood, watching some scenes, and of course commenting on nothing else comparing. It got me in the mood to rewatch. I am on it!

I am going to also include your post on the Pinecone in case someone misses it here.

Thanks for the news!

Do you think the Season 5 plot was all Berlanti or did the CW have some push on that too?

According to Berlanti, he was playing a game with the CW. They wanted a different tone, more soap and teen flavor. So he came up with storylines that would fit what the network was looking for. He literally told the fans this. In an interview he looked directly at the Everwood fanbase and asked that we trust him... inferring that if a season 5 happened and he was forced to write lower quality storylines, it would be short-lived and he’d get back to Everwood realness sooner rather than later.

He would play the game for a season 5, then bring it back to real Everwood.

I just found out that Everwood is actually on imdb which is owned by Amazon. They just have it up too so if you don't have Prime you can watch it there for free on IMDb tv. The quality is also much better than it was on Hulu. Its crystal clear.
