Colin Hart / Mike Erwin Appreciation Thread: They're both just starting out.

Okay, the Colin/Mike thread disappeared, so I started a new one. If someone finds the other one, feel free to close this.

COLIN/MIKE ERWIN SHIPPERS

B.Chambers
'Tos
bliss
then you must kiss me

The title is from a quote from this interview:

Colin Hart - Mike Erwin

Let's get one thing straight. While Mike Erwin may be the new guy on the Everwood block, this long, tall Texan is no newcomer to acting like a heartthrob on camera. On top of wowing us with his role as Amy's delish guyfriend, Colin (sigh), Erwin has been making a name for himself on the big screen as well. Since moving to Hollywood in 2000, he's gone and racked up all kinds of hottie gigs including stints in The New Guy and American Pie II. This summer, he'll be turning up the heat yet again as the teenage Bruce Banner in Ang Lee's summer thriller The Hulk.

My character is: "Very scared at the moment. Before the coma, Colin was the popular kid in town. Everybody loved him. He was very spontaneous, free-spirited and there were no consequences to his actions. He was the kind of guy who could show up after not mowing your lawn for two weeks and you would pay him for three weeks. Now he doesn't remember a thing. Not his family, his best friend or his girlfriend."

The thing I like most about my job is: "Playing a guy who does a total 180. Here's this guy who could do no wrong. A guy everybody loved. And now he doesn't trust anybody. He's lost so much but at the same time he gets a chance to start over completely. It's like being reborn at 16 years of age."

The most difficult thing about being Colin is: "Jumping into the middle of a show where everybody is already on top of their game. I feel like the new kid. And another tough thing is that I've never been in a coma. In a way, this couldn't get any better because Colin doesn't know anyone in Everwood and I don't know anyone on the set. We're both just starting out."

If people think they have the prognosis for Amy and Colin's romance figured out... "they're in for a big surprise. I can't tell you much but I can tell you there are going to be issues between Ephram and me. There are going to be issues between Amy and me and, of course, there are issues between Amy and Ephram, but they are not going to be what you think. This is not going to be your typical love triangle."

I just wanted to stop by this thread and say Mike is waaaay hot, and i would be totally cool with Colin ending up with Amy instead of Ephram.

Ephram is pretty cute too but i think Colin out ranks him.

Had to share the pics:

He's definitely cute! I'm not sure who I want Amy to end up with, but if she doesn't want Colin, I'll have him.

Mike Erwin
He's the only thing standing between Ephram and Amy. Mike Erwin was born in Texas, but now he's headed to the hills of Utah to film Everwood. Here's what the until-recently comatose character has to say for himself.

Everyone Starts Somewhere: I actually got third place in a talent competition in sixth grade for doing a Milli Vanilli lip sync. We dyed mops, put bandanas around our heads and had a little skit where we're changing and a doing different number. We pretty much made fun of Milli Vanilli for lip synching while we were lip synching.

It's a Good Thing He Got an Acting Job: In college I worked at Old Navy. I always got in trouble 'cause I used to play on the headsets. The manager would be like, "Mike, can we see you at the front." I'd say, "I'm sorry, Mike's not here right now. He's at the dentist." And he'd scream, "Get up here now!"

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in actingI have no fallback, pretty much I succeed or I become homeless. And I wasn't going to take the homeless route.

Bonding With His Castmates: The first day I came into town I got a call from Chris Pratt, who plays Bright, and he was like, "Hey Mike, I know you have no idea who I am, but we're supposed to be best friends on the show and I want to come hang out with you." The funny thing was that after that first day, he and I hung out everyday. He's a really great guy. Then I hung out with Emily VanCamp and Gregory Smith, and they're great. I actually hung out with John Beasley and that was cool. You see him on the show and you're like, "That guy looks so nice." And he is! You want to give him a hug. It's been really funI got lucky.

What He Looks For In a Girl: I look for honesty, a great personality and level-headednessbeing grounded. Someone who likes to have fun, but knows when to stop. They have to be attractive, but I have to get along with them. I'm actually a pretty hard person to get along with. I'm pretty picky and demanding, so if I can find someone to hang around me for more than six months, that's a pretty good person.

On Astrological Influences: I actually like to read about the stars. In my room I've actually mapped out precisely the summer sky with the constellationsI'm an actor and I have a lot of time on my handsI have a bunch of star maps and stuff like that and I have pretty much all the signs up in my room. I'm a Virgo; I think that Virgos are supposed to be very well organized. I'm pretty much unorganized, sporadic, spontaneous and messy.

One of the first things that strikes you about Mike Erwin is how much he has accomplished in just a short time working in Hollywood. After moving from Texas a little over a year ago, the talented newcomer has worked on a three high profile movies, shot starring roles in two pilots and guest-starred on several popular television series. Whew!

Erwin recently experienced the highlight of his young career when he learned that he would be joining the cast of Universal's "The Hulk," to be directed by Oscar nominated director Ang Lee. Recently seen in the sleeper hit, "The New Guy" he also had a small role in "American Pie 2."

In addition to his film roles, Erwin is making an impact on the small screen. He was most recently seen in the season finale of the popular CBS television series, "Touched by an Angel," doing impressive work as a seemingly innocent high school senior who turned out to be a murderer. Other recent television work includes guest-lead roles on "7th Heaven," "Judging Amy," "So Little Time," "Raven" and "Reba." In an odd twist of fate, it was only a few short years earlier that Erwin had worked on the set-up crew for one of Reba's Texas concerts. In addition he also had starring roles in two pilots, one for the WB and one for Disney.

Despite the fact that he was born in Dalton, Georgia, Erwin very much considers himself to be a Texan since he moved there at the age of three and continued to live there until after he graduated college when he then packed up his things and moved to Los Angeles. Unlike most young actors, Erwin didn't decide to pursue a career in showbusiness after watching one of the greats onscreen but rather decided acting might be in his blood after being one of the most popular acts in a series of 6th grade talent shows. He continued to pursue his passion through out middle and high school and went on to attend Texas Wesleyan College on a full scholarship for dramatics combined with academics.

After appearing on stage in various plays including Sam Shepard's, "Cowboy Mouth," "As You Like It," and "Henry V," Erwin was cast in his first professional role as "Travis" in "The New Guy" which happened to be shooting in Austin. A few credits shy of graduating, Erwin was granted permission to use his first professional experience as an actor to write his final paper. He has since graduated with a BA in Fine Arts.

Not one to take the road most traveled, Erwin will continue to search out roles than challenge him, whether it is on television, stage or screen. Judging by his success so far, there is no end to the possibilities for this talented and charismatic actor.

Birthdate: August 31, 1978

Hometown: Arlington, Texas

What You Don't Know: A few years before appearing on the WB's Reba, Mike worked as a roadie at one of her concerts in Texas.

Quote: "[For Everwood], we actually go and film at a real high school, and we have 300 extras. It's funny, you can see the cliques that you were either a part of or not a part of. It makes me feel lucky to be where I am now."

Not everyone can hobble out of a hospital room and make teen girls swoon. But Mike Erwin did just that when he joined the cast of the WB's new drama, Everwood, earlier this month.

The Texas native scored a role as the straight-outta-coma boyfriend who comes between stars Gregory Smith and Emily VanCamp. And even though Erwin's character, Colin Hart, didn't say a word for the first 10 episodes, the fans talked of little else, wondering when the comatose cutie would wake up and smell the romance.

"That's power right there," Erwin jokes. "Causing a love triangle when I'm in a coma. It was pretty intimidating. They'd been talking about this guy all season. So, there was a little bit of, 'Gosh, I hope these people like what I do.' "

Though Everwood is Erwin's first series role, he's hardly a stranger to the WB, having guested on everything from Reba to Do Over to 7th Heaven. Before that, he starred in two teen flicks, The New Guy (filmed in his home state of Texas) and American Pie 2.

Still, Erwin's biggest and most unexpected break came from Oscar-winning director Ang Lee, who handpicked the 24-year-old actor to star as a young Bruce Banner in this summer's big-screen adaptation of The Hulk. "It was my first big audition," Erwin remembers. "I walked in there and said to a friend, 'Whoever gets this job is one lucky guy.' I did not expect it at all. I love comic books and I used to watch The Incredible Hulk with Lou Ferrigno as a kid. So, when I got it, I was thrilled. I still can't believe it, to tell you the truth. It all seems like a dream."

Same goes for his plum role on Everwood. "When I auditioned for the part," he explains, "the show hadn't even aired yet. So, they sent over a pilot, and I sat and watched it with my girlfriend. It was so real, so true to life. By the end of the show, we were both in tears."

Hmmm...hunky and sensitive? Cue the screaming girls.
