It's official, man, I am miserable in this heat.

I was outside attempting to jog. I couldn't go there. It's too damn hot. The postwoman pulled up right then so she handed me our mail. She instantly commented on the weather which was convenient because my head was already internally ranting about it. We both agreed the heat and humidity today and so many days during the next three months, sucks.

I can't take it. Minnesota is known for beautiful summers with all the lakes and scenic beauty. Unless I am fishing or water-skiing and the water/wind make it feel a little cooler, I strongly disagree. We do not have a dry heat here... it is a HUMID heat. I hate it. :pout:

Minnesota gets comments about it being too cold in the winter. I'd take that any day over this. I was outside for about five minutes without exercise and I was sweating like a pig. This is not fun. I want to go home back on Lake Erie where it's always cooler. I am never going to be a fan of summer, humid, heat, no matter how hard I try.

/rant.

Hmm so would now be a bad time to tell you I have been out building a fence all day :look: ....I think it was about 100 idk just guessing on that since thats the norm for this time of year.

But yeah I guess if yall arnt used to it I can see how it would be killer how humid is it up there today like above 50% humidity? We will have to agree to disagree because I LOOOOOOOVEEEEEEE summer! Its my favorite time of the year. :D

Nah Houston is an okay place way to crowded for my taste but its a nice city.

I could certainly be just fine in west Texas, then. Dry heat doesn't bother me one bit.
Haha well come on down I think it was about 105 in Lubbock today but its definitely dry up there. I know this because one of my friends works at the water park there(its nothing huge but fun) and he was cursing because he had to sit there and watch everyone ride the rides while he pushed the buttons LOL talk about torture.

Is basketball all year? I mean, I managed to play both soccer and basketball because of the different seasons. Winter was all about basketball. Summer/Fall was all about soccer. Spring, I had a slight break but trained a lot during this time period, still playing both sports casually or if special tournaments came up I played during this time as well. But as far as high school specifically was concerned, I was easily able to separate both sports, being completely involved in both during their specific time periods/seasons, not having to sacrifice one for the other in the least
Basketball starts in October and runs to February or March depending on how far you go into the playoffs. For me my schedule was like this in August and September I ran cross country then starting in October I did basketball until Februaryish. After that I ran track through May....I kept myself busy.

LOL!

Like I told you before, I really think I have a heat intolerance. I really do. Every, single time my sensitive GI system flares it's always in the summer heat. Always. I could go through the past ten years and list the times they thought I had an inflammatory condition based on fleeting flare ups that they now realize are IgA Deficiency related but always exacerbated by heat. My mom said as a little baby, even, and little girl, I was infiltrated with sensitive GI symptoms and asthma issues in the summer heat/humidity.

Playing soccer for years and years... I would sweat and develop red rashes on my legs and arms. I had to instantly get a shower and even then my skin was irritated for a while. I couldn't drink cold pop after soccer games because I would get severe stomach pains.

So yes, I think my history suggests heat and humidity do not classify as something that's pleasant for me.

But I really think I can exist just fine in dry heat. I know as much. I never felt sick physically in LA or Vegas (the many times I've been to both places) and it was 90/100+ degrees and dry. I felt fine, even in the Nevada desert. It's the humidity.

A little food for thought from Bill Gates:

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about

eleven (11) things they did not and will not learn in school.

He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings

created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and

how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world doesn't care about your self-esteem.

The world will expect you to accomplish something

BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school.

You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity.

Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping:

They called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault,

so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring

as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills,

cleaning your clothes and listening to you

talk about how cool you thought you were

So before you save the rain forest

from the parasites of your parent's generation,

try delousing the closet in your own room..

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers,

but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades

and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer.

*This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters.

You don't get summers off and very few employers

are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF.

*Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life.

In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds.

Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Lana is adorable as usual. :D

Those rules are sooooo true I love #8 its one of my big pet peeves actually I can't stand this new movement to take losing out of EVERYTHING! Life is not always pleasant if you can't learn at a young age that sometimes you may fail once you hit the real world you are going to have a VERY rude awakening. A child not winning at something may make them sad for a little bit but learning to deal with adveristy is key in a childs development. RANT OVER.

Aweeeeeeee!

I had to quote this adorable picture because it was getting too far in post responses so I felt another look at this adorable little girl was necessary. :D

She is so precious. What a beauty! :D :D

PS: I think she could sing "Moon River" beautifully and/or hang with her future husband in the background. ;)

:lmao: You would be hooked up nicely in Europe. Very, very nicely. :D

Hey, I also know for a fact (since I went this route) that the Netherlands is a very common stop to change planes (if you have a connecting flight) to France so I bet you will save on airfare as well as see your family in a very convenient, efficient way.

We've got to get this thread out of page 2!!!

Does anyone have anything to share about his/her life ...good or bad? What's going on with everyone?

I'll start by saying that I'm pretty excited this week. My and daughter and boyfriend are arriving on Sunday from the Netherlands. They're only staying a week with me and then flying to California where they'll start on their drive/camping trip up the west coast of North America. They'll end up in Vancouver.(I believe).
