fancygirl: I'm loving FlashForward now. Any scoop?

I'm hearing good things about the April 29 and May 6 episodes. As you know, April 29 is the blackout date, and although the schedule was changed somewhat so April 29 (which is a Thursday) won't happen exactly on that day, a source tells me we may get the beginning of the April 29 happenings on April 29, and then we see what is set in motion on May 6. More importantly, I'm hearing there is most definitely a chance FlashForward will be renewed, because it actually does fairly well overseas and doesn't hemorrhage as much money as you'd think. A source tells me, "This is a rare case where a low domestic performer could get a surprise pickup." We'll find out May 18, when ABC announces its schedule.
That sounds encouraging, but according to the people at tvbythenumbers this is only false hope. We'll see how it goes, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

iram 04-14-2010 05:56 PM

I have the feeling they might renew FF for a mid season. Is not the first time that i read that ABC is not ready to give up on Flahforward, but who knows?

Umgirl 04-14-2010 09:58 PM

That might not be a bad idea. Maybe like 5 or so episodes? That's probably what it should have been. 22 episodes was probably just too much. Especially with an April 28 2010 doomsday date.

buffyfan145 04-15-2010 06:14 AM

I like the idea of it coming back as a mid-season show, if it comes back for a 2nd season. :D It might work better with a shorter episode schedule, like they do with most cable shows.

thanks for the info, hoping for the best

Yeah I read that to at tvbythenumbers.

Not sure what to think. FF wasn't on the SaveOurShow list at E! was it?

Part of me says this is E! and Kristen. She is blind and dumb most of the time!

Umgirl 04-16-2010 08:08 AM

Yeah, I don't know if I trust tvbythenumbers completely; they kept on insisting Castle wasn't gonna make it. Even as the numbers started improving. I know that's only one instance but it's a big one imo.

Full Throttle 04-16-2010 08:39 AM

I know I don't trust Kristen @ E!, but not positive if I trust tvbythenumbers either. Oh well. Just gotta wait and pray.

Ratings are out and it's another series low:

Quote:

8:00 ABC FlashForward 4.991 million viewers (18-49: 1.4/5)

http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/04/16...csi-fall/48767
I think many people have tuned out because they were angry at the Janis reveal. I liked it, but I admit this is the minority opinion.

FF didn't make the second round, but I don't think it matters much. Terminator won the poll with 70% last year and it was still cancelled.

Frances993 04-16-2010 11:05 AM

This weeks episode was actually very good, too bad that rating dropped again..

Well, I think this show is done now. Sad, cos' i personally started to like it again.

Hamburgo1001 04-16-2010 11:37 AM

Agreed. If Flash Forward was getting consistent ratings of 2,0 - 2,4 in the demo (like Fringe on Fox) then I could see how international sales could get the show a second season. But at a 1,4? I really can't see that happening.

ETA:

Finals are out:

It's mostly the actors talking about the Mark/Olivia/Lloyd love triangle.

Ratings are out and they improved a little compared to last week:

Quote:

8:00 ABC FlashForward 5.585 million viewers (18-49: 1.6/5)
8:30 ABC FlashForward 5.536 million viewers (18-49: 1.6/5)

Any word on the renewal?

Nothing yet. I think we won't hear anything until shortly before ABC's Upfront presentation on May 18.

Finals are out:

Quote:

- 5.530 million viewers

Well if NBC can bring back Heroes for a 5th season with much worse ratings, ABC can bring back FF.

Not that there is any logic or anything. Just saying...

iram 04-23-2010 08:25 PM

I think that this is a good news:
Quote:

“FlashForward” Jumps by Double-Digit Percentages Week to Week, Drawing Biggest Overall Audience in 4 Weeks

“FlashForward” (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Growing by double-digit percentages week to week among Total Viewers (+12% – 5.6 million vs. 5.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (+14% – 1.6/5 vs. 1.4/5), ABC’s “FlashForward” drew its biggest overall audience in 4 weeks – since 3/25/10.

:yay:

How is V doing btw? I figure that is the competition.

FF is getting so good. Maybe people are coming back!

Umgirl 04-24-2010 08:45 PM

Nice.

Renewal is based on the 18-49 age group numbers. A little comparison between both shows since they returned in March 2010:

Flash Forward: 1.9, 1.8, 1.5, 1.6, 1.4, 1.6 = 0.60

V: 2.8, 2.4, 2.2, 2.2 = 0.89

At this point, both shows would fall below the 90% mark that is needed for renewal on ABC and headed straight for cancellation. Maybe ABC is going to give 1 of the 2 shows a pity pick up like they did Eli Stone a couple of years ago but if they do, it would have to go to V.

I can see why NBC would bring back Heroes for another 13 episode season. They have endless slots to fill in their schedule because of the huge flop that was Jay Leno in primetime and Heroes currently stands at 77 episodes. The number that is needed for syndication is around 85 episodes. They would get there with another 13 episode order. I admit I am not completely up to speed with Heroes' ratings, but if I remember correctly it's an extremely young skewing show and NBC is so deeply in the toilet that they renew everything that gets a demo rating of 2,0.
