I'm tired, just got back from a 4h hike

And I watched a few things:

B99 3rd episode: I hope that means Rosa will finally get a plotline of her own Also, where's Gina?

1st episode of Star Trek Discovery... was fine, I think it needs a few episodes to "find its footing" - I like the characters, but zoned out on all the Klingon stuff I was just too tired to read the subtitles I also hope they don't kill off the captain too soon: she's only credited as guest star and I really like her

I also finished the 1st season of The Good Place: Wow!

Well the first two episodes of Discovery aired together, so it’s better when watched that way. I like her too though.

Chelsea Peretti’s on maternity leave, so does that mean the show won’t explore more of Gina’s pregnancy? Chelsea and Gina are both on maternity leave, so Chelsea’s not in at least the first eight or nine episodes. The Good Place finally seems to be settling down to its proper format for the season, after all of the resets

Then you have something to look forward to

Finally caught up with Star Trek Discovery... hmm... this is a hard one to like tbh and I'm not even that hardcore of a Trekkie, so it's not necessarily nostalgia speaking here:

Spoiler:

There's some things I really like:

- Tilly is precious
- the doctor is the only person who seems to actually belong in the star fleet
- the "mystery" of what exactly is going on with the ship and how their weird spore travel will get them in trouble/killed in the near future
- Michael (although the writers are apparently incapable of balancing her human and her Vulcan side in a way that doesn't make her look bipolar every other episode... that's a minor issue though

but there's way more that - to put it lightly - irritates me :

- almost every character is either an edgy ass-hole (sure the federation had its fair share of them, but this is ridiculous) or kinda annoying (special mention goes to Saru)
- the crew on the bridge is basically just there (Dear, writers: planting a metal plate on someone's face doesn't make them an interesting character)
- they killed Michelle Yeoh's character (as I was afraid they'd do)
- they killed the security chief in the dumbest way possible and for no reason
- captain "hard man making hard decisions" being a total douche-bag (did we really need more of this type? The answer is NO!)
- I do not care at all about the Klingons - how did they even manage to make them so freaking boring

Some of this might get better and I'll keep watching, but overall I have not much trust in these writers The bait and switch pilot angered me in particular

Well I’m really enjoying it. but I’m the most basic Star Trek fan you’ll find.
