I'll go with #9 as well

I just thought of another teasing moment. I know it's too late, but thought I would mention it.

It is S4 when Joey and Pacey spend the night at the Beach House for the first time. The next morning she teases him about watching cartoons or something.

Sorry if this is againgst the flow of the thread. But just recently started watching this series, I was only 10 when it started haha. I am on currently on S4 when Joey and Pacey become a couple. It struck me if their intention was to make Dawson and Joey endgame. They did a bad job. They just ended up making this iconic couple in the process haha. The producer recently was talking about a reboot. And how Dawson would of found fullfiment as the next Spelberg. Joey and Pacey would be married with kids, but Divorced. But eventually well see them fall in love again.

I don't know what it is, But I find Dawson quite possesive. And I Find his relationship with Joey boring. Pacey and Joey compliment each other alot more. They were scrappy underdogs so was not a shock they found an attraction. I just love Pacey so much, such a great character. Deserved some happiness. Liked him with Andi too she was an important part of his development.

I was 10 when it started too! I still watched it though, it was on in the UK on Sunday afternoons. Funny story, when Dawsons was on there was a huge yo yo craze, see more here:
BBC News | UK | Yo-yo no-no
The big trick with a yo yo is to walk the dog. So when Joey asks Dawson how often he masturbated I was so confused about why she was asking him about his yo yo. Some things just went over my head completely.

Yes their obsession with the Dawson/Joey endgame becomes a problem in the series. You'll notice writers today like Rob Thomas praise Dawson's Creek for giving them the confidence to go with the flow of the story rather than what you decide it will be in episode 1. But Dawson's created that, it didn't always live up to it. It was still of its era where the premise is set up around a central couple and we see that relationship pan out. There may be a wrecker like Tess in Roswell but in the end the central relationship wins out. Dawson's famously flipped the script. Pacey was no wrecker, brought in to bring down Dawson and Joey. He was their childhood friend, he was a lead character. We'd seen him go through this journey the past season. I would love to ask Berlanti if the network changed his plans for the end of season 4. I have a sneaking suspicion that the pregnancy plots and Joey's fear of sex were meant to go somewhere that didn't end up happening.

Dawson/Joey just never seemed like endgame to me, they NEVER worked out. Their relationship didn't even last longer than a few weeks. I personally think it's dumb to say in the first episode that a certain couple must end up together, cause over the years so many things can change and evolve (writing, character development, chemistry, who's on the cast, etc.) so that couple can change and not fit together anymore, and I feel that was the case with D/J. I don't see a couple as endgame if they can't ever get their crap together, and have the same problems tearing them apart again...and again...and again. I do love how the juggernaut that was Pacey/Joey wasn't planned. I think their Double Date episode showed how much chemistry JJ and KH had, and KW said they were going to explore that later. Plus, usually when two people always banter and "hate" each other, that usually leads to them falling in love lol. I do think the network changed things near the end of S4. Like I've said, the Promicide episode was so rushed, forced, and out of nowhere just to make P/J break up so they can throw Dawson and Joey back together (only to have them once again self destruct in S5, pointless but part of the couple's problem anyway) Joey was DEEPLY in love with Pacey all season and all about him, not wanting to lose him, wanted her future to be with him no matter what that it's bizarre and odd how at the end of S4 she is so determined to spend the summer with Dawson. It was plot driven and nothing more.

I'm so glad Pacey and Joey ended up together, I could NEVER see Joey end up with Dawson. Again, they couldn't even make it work longer than two weeks! So how could they have a real and long term relationship as adults, hell they remained little kids when they were together (you see how immature and dumb their arguments and dilemmas were) They never grew together as a real couple like Pacey and Joey did, never matured together and handled things together as a united front. I love when chemistry changes things for the better. It happened with my favorite couple of all time from All My Children: Noah and Julia. They were planning to put Noah with Taylor instead but saw him and Julia together and went with that instead. Then they became one of AMC's most popular supercouples. Just like Pacey/Joey became DC's supercouple.

That's why it kinda baffles me when KW said DJ were soulmates and "forever" - in the show and out of it - because like...did he actually watch the show past season 2...or well, even before then?

Even when they were older and supposedly more mature they weren't all that mature. Their fight in 6x02 exemplifies that.

And it was actually 2 months each time, or thereabouts, that DJ were together in season 2. Like in 4x01 Joey says "I wanted to see him not because for four months of my life he was my boyfriend" and 2x01 to 2x06 could be about two months and then 2x18 to 2x22....although with the timeline it makes it seem as if it's shorter. More like one month each time, tbh. But either way, it's still really short, yeah.

And they stopped and started a relationship several times after season 4 and they were older and maybe more mature, but...nah. And then when they had the chance to start a relationship again as full blown adults with jobs and everything and maximum maturity, they chose not to.

I guess KW was trying to say they're not romantic soulmates, which is pretty clear over the course of the show lol - but also just as platonic soulmates they're not that great, imo, although they were best as friends...casual friends, imo.

And I completely agree about PJo and growing together. That's why I felt Pacey and Joey worked so well, they adapted and fought for their relationship and didn't give up at the first sign of crisis. Yes, Pacey broke up with Joey in a rushed way, like you said Butterfly85, but at least there was some build up to it. If Pacey and Joey had broken up in 4x02 at the first sign of crisis with Pacey needing to graduate and everything...like wow, what a waste that would have been.

And I remember hearing once they were gonna break them up earlier like around 4x08 or 4x09 because of the sex issue and I'm SO glad they didn't. It just doesn't compute for me that Pacey would let Joey go because she wasn't having sex with him quickly enough. Pacey was always more mature than his age, he just was.

Pacey and Joey just worked so much better together, in every way. Even as friends after their break up - even though it's annoying the show practically had amnesia about their relationship and how important it was to them - they were 100x more mature than DJ and so supportive and loving with each other.

They just worked together in a way DJ never did.

Yeah, I loved that Pacey and Joey fought tooth to the nail for each other and to stay together. That was one of the many things showing how much they loved each other. D/J did give up at the first sign of crisis (just like Pacey said in SML lol) I never heard they were originally planning to break them up that fast in S4, and cause they weren't having sex. I agree that Pacey wouldn't just dump Joey cause of that, Pacey was very mature and patient. I just loved how realistic they wrote Pacey and Joey as a couple, and even when they had disagreements they resolved it and came out stronger. As opposed to Dawson and Joey who had very immature fights over dumb s... and they would literally let it fester and didn't resolve it. They didn't fight for each other (hell Joey was usually the one dumping Dawson but she FOUGHT for Pacey) They were really lacking the passion Pacey and Joey had for each other, their relationship, and in general.
