There was a strange comfort there for him, at least in the end. He came to realize that Jen knew the real him and even though he was flawed she was going to continue accepting him back into her life.

They really came to an understanding at the end

Pure.Magic 03-17-2010 08:38 AM

 Yes, at the end, they were on their way to accepting each other for who they really were, who they had become, and it was something both of them needed then, I think.

In the end, they were what they were meant to be all along. :sigh:

 ITA. If there were ever a DC movie, they should get together.

Actually, the series finale was a bit like a DC movie. At least it was formatted like one.

But I agree they should have gotten a chance to be together. There was definitely a lot of potential, and a lot for the writers to work with. I think they saw that in the end, that's why we got the ending of S4 that we did with them.

Jen: What if I told you I don't want to go back to New York? That I hate New York. I don't know. I just-- I feel like I've--I've changed, and I've just been too afraid to admit it, and I've been pushing myself so hard this year to toughen up so that I can go back to school there next year, but, um, I don't-- I don't think I really want to. God, you think I'm weak, don't you?

Drue: You know what I think? I think you should never go backwards when you can go forwards. Anyway, Jen... you're pretty damn strong. Besides, you know... I was kind of thinking you should look into Boston. It's a real up-and-coming town, the spot to be in, in fact, and, you know, yours truly's going to be there. So right there, you know--

Jen: Strike one for Boston.

Drue: Yeah.
Hee, I adore them.

:sigh: I couldn't love that moment more if I wanted to.

Call me a sucker, or a sap, but he really was her hero in that moment and I love that it is a little cheesy but still pretty powerful.

loveandsunshine 03-17-2010 08:58 PM

ITA. It may have been a bit cheesy, but they pulled it off. :)

Pure.Magic 03-18-2010 09:15 AM

I adore that scene. And I didnt think it was cheesy. But it was a powerful moment, I loved that Jen actually confided in Drue, expressed her fear of going back, and it was something Drue could understand, they had NY in common. And I love that he tells her that she is strong. Jen underestimates herself a lot, she needed someone to tell her that then!

Drue told Jen exactly what she needed to hear in that scene. Jen is strong and Drue would have been there for her had they brought him back in season 5. Maybe it's just me but it seemed like the writers always wanted Jen to be unhappy in life. Just as she was having confidence in herself and getting along with someone like Drue who knew her better than anyone in Capeside, they (the writers) took that away from her.

I wish we could have kept Drue instead of getting Charlie :look:

Drue >>>>>>>>>> Charlie...any day of the week. ;)

Which, in general, was a bothersome thing they seemed to do with Jen. Any time she tried to pull away from that core group, she got sucked back in. Don't get me wrong. I love her relationship with Grams and Jack but I think she needed to branch out from that core group of kids.

Drue could have been a great way for her to do that, to have relationship that was hers to have and that she didn't have to share with the group.

milestogo 03-22-2010 03:38 AM

I knew we'd agree on this ;)
