Actually, it kind of was like that at least in season 3. As soon as Dawson got upset it was like Joey was holding back, cuz she was so afraid to lose her friendship with Dawson which was one of the few things that was "safe" for her or what you should call it.
But after the 'True Love' episode, she finally could move forward.

Back on topic. Hee. It's really too bad that the writers threw away the DJ friendship for the crap we got for 5 seasons. They really ruined the friendship for me.

Yeah, the writers themselves are responsible for the massacre of Dawson and Joey. If they hadn't shoved them down our throats for 6 years perhaps they would have been more tolerable to watch. I loved the friendship they had in season 1.

And even though they completely killed Joey and Pacey in season 4, I almost kind of like that they didn't get back together until the very end. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see some more smooch action, but at least they didn't butcher their relationship by having them get together then break up, get together then break up, get together then break up. It would have taken away the chemistry and anticipation.

Although, I would have loved for them to ACKNOWLEDGE that they had a rather significant relationship in season 5, but at least tue love won in the end.

Meh... She chose Pacey... twice.

totally see what you're saying Jen. I even notice how they demean DJ throughout the years. twice in season 5, they wonder if they are each other's security blankets

erin, I don't even think they had much of a friendship. I remember DJ talking in 516 and he doesn't even know what's been going on in her life
