The second season begins with Mary and Francis on the throne of a nation burning. France is rocked by the aftereffects of the plague -- a disease that creeps inside the castle walls, taking thousands upon thousands of lives across the land, and ravages the stability of a nation. From the ashes, powerful lords will rise, carrying out personal, religious and political vendettas, taking lives, and tearing at Mary and Francis’s commitment to each other, and their people. Friendships will be tested, loved ones murdered and betrayed. Meanwhile, a mysterious and deadly threat snatches victims from village streets and castle corridors; leaving evidence of savagery that looks like the work of monsters; mythical creatures who are the subject of nightmares, but who walk among us, doing the Devil’s bidding.

MARY SEEKS RETRIBUTION — In the aftermath of an attack on the castle, a blood-thirsty Francis (Toby Regbo) makes a startling decision that will forever change his rule as the King of France, causing him to track the missing Narcisse (Craig Parker) with a newfound lust for revenge. Meanwhile, Mary (Adelaide Kane) is stunned to discover the truth behind Francis’ recent decisions and embarks on a treacherous mission of her own with Lord Condé (Sean Teale). Leith (Jonathan Keltz) urgently pleads with Greer (Celina Sinden) to flee the country after violence erupts across the land. Catherine (Megan Follows) receives an unexpected and erotic visit in her chambers after making a final decision regarding the fate of her daughter Claude (Rose Williams). We actually had scenes with Mary and the ladies in 2X04. We have one coming up this week as well, in the promo with see Mary/Kenna/Lola talking.

You right, the pic means nothing....only that Bash/Claude have scenes coming up.

The 2x04 scene wasn't of all of them to talking together really like they used to. It was two separate conversations one between Mary and Kenna and one between Lola and Greer. I want all four of them to chat together. In S1, you got one of those conversations at least every other episode. Now, mainly they are 1-1 conversations or not all four of them. I miss that.

I have no idea where they are going with the Bash/Claude SL. One minute he's even more afraid of her than The Darkness. The next has him going to bat for her with Catherine of all people who in S1 didn't even want to acknowledge that he was in the room!!!! I don't think it's asking for too much for some consistency in SLs.

Let see what the next episode brings.

Yeah, you are right about the girls. But their relationship isn't the same as it used to be (Lola/Mary for exemple) and it doesn't seem like the writers really care that much about that. They rather have separate scenes between the girls. I enjoyed the Lola/Kenna scenes for exemple.

As for Bash/Claude....as you've said, one day is running away from her, the next he's defending her and he looks attracted to her. She, on the other hand, definitely wants a piece of him. Then we know that they have scenes coming up.

and some consistency in Bash's SLs, I don't understand why he's playing the protective brother now, when he wanted nothing to do with her before..

I think they genuinely care about each other, they're bffs and I love their scenes, but that's just my opinion.

I agree.

They all have their own lives. Mary is much more concerned by the protestants these days, Greer just go married, Lola was working towards independence and Kenna...

As I've said, I cherish the Lola/Kenna scenes we've got so far. Plus, it seems there's more to come.

As I've said, I cherish the Lola/Kenna scenes we've got so far. Plus, it seems there's more to come.

That's the thing, people say they're not friends, because they didn't support Mary when she lost her baby, that they were playing in a water fountain while their friend was suffering. I just want them to understand that the ladies have their own lives, their own problems, and that they don't have to fawn over Mary all the time, they don't even have a political role. They supported her but they don't have to stop living their lives for her sake.
I saw a comment one day on tumblr that says : "Kenna is Mary's true friend, she's willing to not have children or a family until Mary's got children of her own." Though I love Kenna, I think she doesn't have kids yet because she doesn't want to, not because she's waiting for Mary to have kids.. It's weird to think like that.

Some comments are just ridiculous. Kenna just got married and I'm pretty sure she won't wait after Mary to have a child. Just like it's awful to say that it's not fair for Mary to lose her baby and for Lola's baby to keep on living.

For me it's that I think the power discrepancy is too large. While it bothered me that show made it seem like they didnt care about Mary's loss--that was a writing problem. I simply never bought the friendships. I believe the ladies view each other as friends, but Mary is their queen. Lbr they were separate till they came to French court and Mary spent years in a convent. I just have never bought their friendship with Mary. Atleast by just having everyone off in their own story, they aren't trying o sell them as more than subjects.

That comment about Kenna is ridiculous. I don't think they should have had Greer's wedding and a miscarriage in the same episode cause it presented a reality that wasn't there.

^^I have to agree with that though. It is true that Mary being their queen and them being seperated before going back to french court, put a certain distance between the girls and Mary. While I can totally say that Kenna/Lola/Greer are friends, I can't say the same with Mary. At the end of the day she is the queen of France and Scotland, the girls are her subjects before being her friends. They are here to serve her. Now, I do believe that they care all deeply for each other. There is just no place for such a friendship.

I agree on that, Mary wants to be friends, and she treats them as friends, but when she snaps, she sometimes show that they're her subjects more than they're her friends, like she did with Lola when they were fighting, or with Greer when she stole Tomas from her, or with Kenna when she commanded her to stop seeing the king...
I think that in order to be friends, you have to be able to call each other out on stuff without suffering consequences. The ladies can't do that with Mary because she's a queen, so they're not technically her friends.
