I always kind of hoped that after that episode she may have realised that Luka was better for he than Carter. Carter was so eager to please her, (and maybe even eager to be alone with her?) that he ignored what was in her and Maggie's best interest, which would have been to call in to the local hospital, and get the police to bring her in like Luka suggested. When it all went pear-shaped, and Abby actually admitted at the end to Luka that he had been right, I thought it might have dawned on her that Luka was what she needed, not Carter. Obviously I was hoping for too much.
