I've always spoiled myself with every show I watch so that doesn't affect me.
I get that at the moment Michael feels like Alex does not want to have anything to do with him. Michael and Alex have been love with each other for 10 years already, and Michael is a regular customer at the Wild Pony. So it just doesn't make sense why they suddenly want to make some hook up to seem more.
Michael may have lost hope but the sad thing is that after this episode I've lost it too
