Thanos is just too much for the Avengers, even if they are together again, and the arrival of Carol, is just enough to tip the balance of odds in the Avengers favor, maybe for just a small window of opportunity, that 1 in 14,000,605 chance that Doc Strange saw. Carol adds some oomph to the team, but it still takes
everyone to bring Thanos down. he is an Eternal and that strong, dangerous, and intelligent. it will take everything the Avengers have, and then some, to defeat him and restore the balance to the universe.
