read some information from sides (someone on the JR thread has been posting info from them). Here's the JM-related bits I found. Obviously these don't tell the whole story, so it's not going to all make sense, but here's what I found out.
5x01: Michael indeed has amnesia and he lost his memory due to numerous electrical shocks. This is found out by a doctor looking at his brain scans. The doctor says to surround Michael around familiar places, people, and things. It explains why JM are back on the ferris wheel.
5x04:
- Jane and Rafael are moving in together. She's having nightmares of Rafael and Michael fighting over her and her running away and jumping off a cliff.
- Jane thinks about divorcing Michael and accidentally mails the divorce papers, then in a drunken state, chases the mailman to retrieve the mail. She explains her situation is complicated and she shouldn't have run away from her feelings or made rash decisions. She says she was just overwhelmed.
- The desk clerk tells Michael his cab will be out front. He's with somebody named Bo (in later sides for other episodes, it seems Bo is a dog).
- Jane chases a bus down to talk to someone who is going to Montana (the someone is Michael as indicated below)
- Jane catches Michael. Michael says it's painful and difficult but he cannot just run from it. This lands on Jane who suddenly understands she's been doing her own form of running by getting drunk and letting Petra decide for her (Petra and Jane obviously discuss Jane divorcing Michael)
- Michael asks Jane if she's drunk to which she says, "No. A little. I've got to go."
- Jane runs past Michael, then asks the desk clerk about the mail she dropped off, she tells Jane the mailman has it. Jane goes after the mailman.
5x07:
- Jane goes to the ranch in middle of nowhere Montana where Michael/Jason works (Jason may be the name he's gone by the last five years). He lives in a cabin. They are supposed to have a picnic and get to know each other. Jane wants to see his world (also during this somewhere she calls to see how Rafael is doing, but there's no signal).
- One of the ranch hands around the campfire asks him about Jane, who he can't believe is his wife. Michael tells him their story (I wonder if he genuinely remembers it or is just going by what Jane is telling him, or maybe through him reading Snow Falling). The guy says it is the most romantic story he ever heard. Jane and Michael exchange shy looks. He asks what is their fairy tale ending, if she is going to move in with her husband. They both tell him they are taking it slow Jane is unsettled. Also we find out Jason is really different from Michael, the guys have never heard him speak more than two sentences.
- The ranch owner is really mean and annoyed Michael already took so many days off. He tells Michael that he has 24 hours to decide whether he is going to work there and live in that cabin or move out. Jane is not allowed to live there with him.
- The next morning, Michael and Jane go horseback riding (I'm assuming). Jane is nervous about riding a horse but Michael gives her a gentle one. He goes to get the horse and one of Michael's friends ask her if she still likes Michael and she says yes. He asks her what they decided about the 24 hour deadline which Michael did not tell her about. This makes Jane nervous.
- One of Michael/Jason's ranch bulls has gone on to the neighbor's property. Jane is trying to get it back before the neighbor, Charlie finds her on her property. Charlie is shown as a telenovela villain. She hates Michael and thinks he stole her prized chickens and wants to shoot him if she ever sees him. Jane absolutely needs to do this so Michael doesn't lose his ranch job.
- Jane says she came all the way here, leaving her son behind to find out if there is still something between her and Michael and the only way she can do that without panicking is if she knows she has options and he has options and they have options. Right now the options depend on finding the bull. I guess Charlie helps her or lets her find the bull.
- Later Charlie finds Jane and Michael sleeping on her property and has a gun to Michael's face. She calls him a thief and Jane goes on this passionate rant to defend him. How he is honest and decent and the best person she has ever known. It turns out Michael's dog Bo ate the chickens. To make sure Charlie doesn't shoot him in the future, they have a staring contest of some sort? Jane wins and Charlie rides off saying if she finds them on her property again she will turn Bo into an area rug.
As a standalone episode, 5x07 seems like it will deliver on the JM front. I say standalone because suddenly 5x08 happens. These sides contain JR stuff, so heads-up.
5x08:
Jane wants to do a grand romantic thing for Rafael. She is at one of his houses that are for sale and does something romantic with a candle or something. His boss walks in and Rafael panics. Jane quickly blows out the candles. His boss comments that he hopes Rafael doesn't have dates in all the houses he tries to sell and tells them to leave. Rafael is upset with Jane asking her what was she thinking. She said she wanted to make a grand gesture because there was an opening.
Then there's 5x12 and 5x13. In 5x12, Jane's love life is described as "in-limbo." However, in the next episode, this happens. Again, read at your own risk.
5x13
- 5x13 shows Jane and Rafael going to a courthouse to get married (). But based on the side, they're definitely having second thoughts about getting married in a courthouse. They go to get their marriage license stamped then ask to see the room where the wedding will take place. It's not the most glamorous place to wed.
- Petra is going to be the bridesmaid/witness. Since it's a short notice Jane finds Petra a poofy sage dress that Petra is not a fan of but she's willing to wear it for Jane. That scene happens at the hotel before the court scene. The narrator is not a fan of Petra's dress or this possible boring low-key courthouse wedding (and I'm not a fan of any of this; they better not upstage JM's beautiful wedding).
So basically, I have two theories about this. One is the theory I find most likely, that Michael decides to stay in Montana and he and Jane decide mutually to go their separate ways because of their different lives now and blah, blah, blah. The arc is done and we go back to the show as normal. The other theory is that Michael still doesn't truly remember Jane or his old life (just going by what he's told) and 5x07 still leaves things somewhat unresolved with JM, Jane goes back home and back to Rafael. Then Michael turns up somewhere near the end with his memories intact and another choice has to be made. Come to think of it, this could also be plausible
. It honestly wouldn't make sense for JR to happen if Jane's running to get JM's divorce papers back and goes all the way to Montana for Michael. But Jennie's said numerous times she's sticking to the planned ending so despite it not making sense, JR will be the end result. Of course, I'd love to see Jane realize that marrying Rafael is a mistake if Michael were to return again with his memories and we see JM get remarried instead, but alas
.
