I heard that rumor too, but I am not sure how true that is. I know they got new show runners after season 7 and the new show runners hated Jackie and Hyde, and no matter how popular they were they decided to break them up. Before season 8 was green lit Jackie and Hyde were supposed to be endgame at the end of season 7. In my mind they end up together and season 8 never happened.
