Oh FFS I totally agree with you. This is why I avoid 21st century TV shows. Most of them are just preachy about recent political events and/or diversity. Boring.

Yeah, I'm finding it's the same with the Charmed reboot too. They are seem to be trying to push different agendas, when really what we need is escapism. It stops me from enjoying a show and instead makes me depressed or irritated.

So, Michael is basically a new version of his adoptive father from the original version??? That's not good.

That was actually my original thought when watching the pilot, that Michael was more Hank than Michael, and I thought that if our Michael saw
this version of himself he would be disgusted. In the original series Michael was angry and distrustful of people, but you could see that it was because he was deeply afraid and longing for something more. The new Michael comes across as a stalker and a thug. Even the scene where he hooks up with Alex doesn't show his softer side, and seems purely about lust.
New Michael is bisexual too btw, because you see him with his arm around a girl at the high school reunion so if the show goes on there probably will be a Michael/Maria pairing someday and there may be a Michael/Alex/Maria love triangle to look forward to.
Also, since this is from the writers of The Vampire Diaries, I'm pretty sure everyone will have hooked up with everyone by the end of it.

Thank you for pointing this out I think that is an excellent point to make. What drew us all to the original version was the innate chemistry.
Like you said, we shouldn't be able to feel awkwardness in a group of friends who have supposed to known each other for years.
Majandra and Shiri had immediately chemistry on screen, you felt the bond between Maris and Liz, and their friendship was the best thing about Season 3 in my opinion.]

Yeah, the chemistry between everyone Jason/Shiri/Majandra/Brendan/Katie was organic from the get go. It was amazing, and very, very special.

That doesn't surprise me. Michael Trevino was easily one of the best actors in The Vampire Diaries and I always hated that they fazed him out by Season 4.

He's a good actor, and I thought that he was a great fit for Kyle. It's Michael and Isabel that bother me the most, I think they were terribly miscast. I was sceptical about Heather Hemmens as Maria, because I remember her from Hellcats but honestly watching the pilot I don't find her portrayal of Maria offensive at all. However she was very underused in the pilot and I don't really have high hopes for the character.
