Hope learned that the secret letter that Lizzie hid in the book could be from Alaric about the legend of the Bear in the Woods. Hope wanted to look for the book of the secrets so she sneaked into the library. She found a new door to the hidden room that had been located near the back of the library. When Hope went towards the door to find the old book that had the spells, she wanted to help Alaric so she crept into the attic to explore what was there to see if all of the equipment was in the holdall room with the secrets. The attic held the key to finding the Prophecy to unlocking the secret to the knife that could destroy anything that was close to the knife.
