I did like Noah and Avery but it was clear after a few "reboots", that it really wasn't in the cards, no matter how much he wanted it. i'm glad that he realised it, instead of being in denial and complaining about being "friendzoned" (a term I really hate BTW) and realised that it was Carrie that he was meant to be with.
