Alright crazy theory time! In IX we find out that Luke went to Mortis and became Father. The story is how Rey and Ben become the new Son and Daughter (although they don’t use those particular titles). That way they can “end” the Skywalker Saga but still pull these characters back
I don't think they should because the average movie goer does not watch the animated shows and will have no idea what the Mortis arc is. And I doubt JJ would go that route.
