Simon Kinberg has a terrible track record as a writer. The only good movie that he had a writing credit on was X-Men: Days of Future Past. Not only did he co-wrote X-Men: The Last Stand, but he was also a writer on the 2015 Fantastic Four movie, and there are rumors that he ghost-directed parts of that movie too.
He's a good producer, but he's not a very good writer.
