Meh, I'm more inclined to go with whatever version said "she considered" taking his hand
(Can't remember if it was Fry's version or the Junior novel or the illustrated book)
The alternative just comes across as cruel.
I mean, I get it... But it's still cruel to mess with his feelings like that.
