I just wish we could somehow add the part about cactus being prickly to protect itself, because it's important. Could you maybe try if it could fit as "It’s prickly. That’s to protect itself (...) Once a year it has a really beautiful bloom. It’s worth it if you could stand it the rest of the time"?
