I don't think they will fit in a backstory for Facilier and Regina. They probably would have gotten to that in season 8, but since there will be no season 8, we'll likely never know anything more about their past than what we know now. Since 7x20 appears to be his last episode, I wonder what circumstances lead to them going their separate ways. Hopefully not another death.
If I remember filming spoilers correctly, Gothel is not expected to appear in the next 3 episodes, which seems odd.
