It's funny that some SW fans still can't understand that Ben Solo had felt loneliness, despite having a family. And of course, having Snoke in his head. Luke has his Jedi academy, Leia had her political career and Han had his... smuggling career.
They loved him but they didn't understand him and they all had "careers". So the most powerful kid in the Force saga was left alone and he wasn't helped while he desperately needed to be protected, trained and listened to. Instead of that, he was feared by his family.
