I wasn't into sports when I was a kid, but I got more interested in my teens. Baseball, volleyball, football(what we call NFL gridiron football), and hockey. And I also liked regular football. Yes, I know which one you mean.
Soccer is just an abbreviation for "association football," what it used to be called here in the USA a century ago. But I never really got into basketball or racing sports, for example.
