I get it, too, he's invested in the Bria situation when Casey wanted to stay out of it, and of course, Casey is now only really involving himself because he misses his wife and wants to address the communication issues they're having. Severide may have initially got involved to stop Dawson walking herself into danger, but imo he does care about Bria and her dad.
