I think Phoebe helping him with the engagement ring was wonderful because at that point we were really due another scene with just the two of them, that bond again between the two of them because we didn't have many scenes where it was just the two of them together on their own. With his funny sarcasm and her crazy humour and always kicking his ass (in a good way of course) that made the perfect comedy.
I am appreciative of the few scenes we have of them together though.
