That same kid was crying again today. Such is my life. She is not the only one. There is a student in fourth grade that screams louder. She also, unfortunately, hits her head on the ground or any hard surface and flops all over the floor as she is crying/screaming. I will always come into work with a smile though because I feel sad for these kiddos and just want to love them more. I will never forget the many times I am on the floor with this fourth grader in my arms just trying to prevent her from hurting herself and soothing/calming her down. This job gets pretty emotional, but that's also the beauty of it. I have become an advocate on this journey as well, because so many do not get it. Some general education teachers feel that their consequences should be similar, but they are coded ED (emotionally disturbed) for a reason and we know they are frequently going to display those behaviors. I am just happy we are making progress! Little progress is huge for them.
