After 15 years at an isolated monastery in the Himalayas, Danny Rand returns to New York City to recover his family business. However, he has been presumed dead and his first problem is that no one believes he is who he claims.

The Meachums have Danny locked up in a psychiatric hospital, but Danny gets messages out to Colleen and Joy. Meanwhile, Harold is threatened and sees Danny as a weapon he can use against his enemies.

After escaping the mental hospital, Danny approaches lawyer Jeri Hogarth to prove he is who he is. Meanwhile, Colleen steps into the ring for the first time, and Ward has second thoughts about continuing with Rand Enterprises.

The Triad abduct Joy in retaliation for her negotiating the pier deal, but are unaware that she has a protector. Meanwhile, Harold tells Ward to drop the litigation against Danny, and Colleen continues fighting in the ring.

After Danny apologizes to a woman suing Rand Enterprises, the company's stock plummets and Ward begins to crack under the pressure. Meanwhile, Danny goes looking for the source of the new drug that the Hatchetmen tipped him off to.

Danny must fight three battles to drive the Hand from New York and recover Radovan's daughter. Meanwhile, Ward gives into his addiction and Claire visits her old hospital.

While Danny learns how deeply the Hand is embedded in Rand, Ward tries to flee the country. Meanwhile, Danny and Colleen grow closer.

Danny recovers from using the Fist, and Bakuto shows him how to recharge his chi. Meanwhile, Harold pays Lawrence a visit and asks him to make a sacrifice for the good of the company.

After getting treatment for his wound, Danny begins to realize what his destiny truly is. Meanwhile, Colleen learns the truth about the Hand.

Ward makes a deal with Bakuto, but soon discovers that the Hand leader is less than trustworthy. Meanwhile, Colleen faces her sensei in final combat, and Danny discovers how to summon the Fist.

To clear his name with the DEA, Danny must fight Harold and decide whether to kill him or not.
