The benefit of the TWD and Fear is that they routinely kill off major characters which keeps it from getting stale. TWD seems to work for me because I doubt that it would hold my interest for 8 seasons if they didn't have the variety of characters. Fear is working for me as well. I feel like we are just getting to know the core characters and they had the balls to kill off Travis and Chris before they got boring. Same with Jake. Basically I think the large amount of different characters works on a show where they also die frequently. Same with Game of Thrones by the way
