Yes, he sure knew what the result of all these actions could be... But Garrick had the instruction to bring Red alive to Fitch. I'm not sure if Fitch really could have predicted the outcome it caused.
But don't forget, Fitch lied to Red about Berlin as well... He didn't help him although he knew exactly who was after him. He hasn't redeemed himself too much.
