You know...I didn't know why I didn't see this sooner...but FB and Alice are like the less violent/twisted version of Cathy and Heathcliff? Only in the sense that their kids are together and maybe will have the relationship they didn't...both (I speculate this) grew up together, possibly fell in love but she saw a chance to get out of the Southside and took it. Now they're married to other people but it doesn't mean he could care any less about Alice.
Ok...someone has to write a fanfic about them now! lol.
