Definitely no clear right or wrong, which I'm glad the show used Murphy (and even to some extent Jaha) to remind us of. But Bellamy and Abby did ultimately make the decision that will save more people. I love Bellamy, but I won't even pretend saving grounders was why he wanted that door open. Nope, it was all about Octavia.
