They definitely gave her a rough entrance with the fact they put her together with Booth so quickly. But then I think initially it was a test run to see how it worked given it was such a change from Goodman's "one step away" from the gang, and see how she functioned with the group. And the fact she immediately clashed with Brennan gave it some drama.
But I remember fans were not too pleased with her during the initial months of her start on the show...
So it's funny to see that she became such a integral part of the gang.
