That guy on the left of last picture is the director, Lasse Halstrom. When I went to see it premiere in New York, he came down and sat next to me for a minute, before it was his turn to get on stage and introduce the film. It's so bad that the film didn't do well. I think they marketed it as a big exciting blockbuster and it really was a very small film, about a small man (Kevin Spacey character) who was having a lousy life, and he went to Newfoundland and his life improved... a little.
The same woman who wrote of 'Shipping News' wrote 'Brokeback Mountain' and that was a mega hit, so go figure.
