Spoiler:
i had a flashback to skins at that moment ... i didn't mind that, but i didn't like the fat joke.
see, i thought it was supposed to be ~romantic, because heather WANTED to stay with bill, so the alien part of her was like, "yes, go stay with her!!" and then bill had to tell her to let go and it was all ~beautifully tragic.
it's not great writing by any means, i'm not kidding myself here, but i saw the ~intentions.
i liked the second episode though. bill is a fun character.

Spoiler:
I'm sure Moffat thought it was meant to be pure romance, but it fell a bit short of the mark for me, especially when said alien!Heather was screaming like a banshee and then almost smothering Bill with her hand. It was just an unfortunate way to write someone willing to follow you through time and space.
I haven't seen the second ep yet, but I'll do so soon.

i remember seeing it when it first came out and was like, "wait what???" when the lesbian twist happened.

Right?
It was a good twist since I was watching it with my sister who has read the books and the whole way through she kept going on about her character being Mark's cousin, so yeah I was pleased and surprised - especially if my sister was remembering right and thus they changed the character from cousin to gay for the film.
