I am enjoying this disbelief people have! Although I will be sad to see Michael get killed, I am enjoying people’s reaction. On reddit and tumblr people just cannot believe this is coming. They are like “last breath” already happened! How did last breath already happen if Michael is still breathing? Then the “alas” comment they took as Michael is not going to be a lawyer but go back to being a detective. Really? Is that a reason the narrator will be sad? Michael wants to be a detective, there is nothing sad about that.
I know this is mean (and who knows if Michael returns from the dead and Jane chooses to be with him again, this might come to bite me in the a$s) but I am enjoying the people who are crying saying this is not the show they loved. Well for half of a season we felt the same way
We felt hurt and cheated. Everything was basically taken away from us. This was not the show we loved. We were tricked for some time as well. It's fun to see other people in our place at the moment.
I don’t know how many times Jennie has talked about not following common telenovela tropes, but I know she has said countless amount of times that this show is a love letter to telenovela, it is a homage to telenovela, it is whimsical, it is a fairytale, it is about fate and destiny. Michael and Jane do not fit any of that for me, or for anyone to be honest. The only place Michael has ever fit that is in Michael’s head. Rafael and Jane fit those tropes. There is a reason everyone thinks J/M is an unusual couple, because this is not how the story is supposed to go. If we are talking about fairytales then they basically started the show with their version of once upon a time to introduce Jane, and then 8 miles but half a world away her destiny/fate/Prince Rafael. What Jennie has always said about doing differently is relatable characters. She does telenovela tropes. She does all of them! She just makes the characters more real than usual. So Rafael is not perfect prince charming of people’s fantasies, he has flaws. So Petra is not a complete villain, she has relatable emotions that drive her. Jane is not an innocent virgin, she knows sex, desperately wants sex.
We have said it over and over again, there is no way you can write a love letter to telenovela if you don’t think fate brought Rafael and Jane together. You can’t consider her insemination an accident, or as an obstacle for Jane/Michael.
