I think you just answered your own question. In contrast to the many bro alliances we see, girls alliances that work are rare so when it happens or they attempt to make it happen, they get excited.
Based on the overnight feeds that I've read these alliances seem to fit exactly what you look for in an alliance to root for, so perhaps you'll end up being a fan.
