Yay! Tftnt Static_Waves! I love the thread title!!!!

Bringing this over:

Michael deserves to know that he was right about Rafael turning him in. I don't understand the "michael is shady and has it out for rafael" argument anymore considering Michael was right about Rafael turning him in.

I still think it was a weird choice for the writers to make tbh...but since they did, Michael deserves an apology for sure
Absolutely Michael deserves an apology. And to be completely redeemed for being forced into OOC behavior.

When Rafael says stuff like "Michael is shady", I don't understand what he means. To me the phrase "shady" refers to someone who you believe is untrustworthy because you suspect they are involved in immoral or dangerous or criminal behavior. Michael has done nothing of the sort. He's a straight-forward guy who digs for the truth and gets results. What is shady about that? Plus you look at his personal life, his interactions with Jane, her family, his co-workers, you don't at all get the sense that they see him as anything other than respectable, kind, and loyal. It's really only Rafael who thinks Michael is terrible. Even Michael's own brother knew he was a reformed man, that's why he went to him for money. He knew he could blackmail Michael into doing what he wanted, because Michael had cleaned up his life and wouldn't want to be exposed for things in the past that were done with and completely irrelevant. Rafael, on the other hand, doesn't know anything about Michael except that he stands in the way of getting Jane.

I honestly think it's going to be harder for Rafael to deal with Michael, as this plan was his shot to get Michael gone for good. If this show intends to marry Michael and Jane, there's still the matter of Michael and Rafael getting along and between the two boys right now, I think Michael would be more willing to at least keep a peaceful front for Mateo's sake than Rafael.
Rafael comes across has having this self-assured conviction that he alone has the right to Jane because she gave birth to his child. When in reality he has no claim on her whatsoever. I wish Jane would point that out to him. They might have biological connections, but they are NOT a family, nor are they required to be one, and he can't use that as manipulation to coerce her into a relationship. Rafael has never had to deal with Michael being first in Jane's affections, because almost from the moment he decided he wanted her, she has swooned to his charms. Even when they broke up, I don't think he expected her to run back to Michael so quickly, and when he saw them getting closer, he immediately got possessive and wanted her back. Because he is the father, Jane can't push him out of her life, so he can get away with far more than Michael can. He doesn't have to worry about losing her, because she will always be in his life in some capacity. So far the brunt of the "getting along" has fallen on Michael's shoulders, and Michael did a pretty decent job of it the whole time Jane and Rafael were dating. If Michael and Jane started dating, would Rafael accept this, or would he continue to sabotage them and heap guilt on Jane for throwing away her "family"?

I do think of the two Michael is more likely to be peaceful. Partly because he wouldn't want to make the same mistake again, and partly because I think punching Rafael was cathartic, and he doesn't have any anger left, only resignation. But I don't think at this point Michael is interested in trying at all, either to get along with Rafael, or to pursue Jane. He has no strength for this right now. But once he and Jane are on good terms, I definitely think he will go out of his way to be civil to Rafael.
